HIGH DEF
Frequently Asked Questions

When is High Def?

February 2-4. High Def starts Friday evening at 6 p.m. at host homes and wraps up on Sunday morning at Preston Trail.

Who can attend High Def?

High Def is designed for students in grades 6-12.

What is High Def?

Preston Trail Student Ministry’s annual student conference. There will be a mix of large group sessions, smaller breakouts, small groups and recreation activities. Students will be grouped by age and gender in small groups and host homes.

Students love the unconventional group games, dynamic worship, talks tailored to what they’re going through and the opportunity to bond in friendship.

Is High Def an overnight event?

Yes. Students will spend Friday and Saturday nights at host homes with their small group.

Will I get to be with my friends at High Def?

When you register for High Def, you will have the opportunity to list two friends you want to be with, and we’ll do our best to group you together. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate requests made after registration closes, so make sure to include any friend, group or leader requests when you register.

What does High Def cost?

  • Registration opens on October 14. Students who register October 14-16 will get a swag pack with a limited edition PTSM t-shirt and the lowest registration price of $90.
  • Early bird pricing of $100 is from October 17-December 4.
  • The price increases December 5 to $120 until registration closes on January 22.

What is included in High Def Registration?

Registration for in-person attendees includes recreation supplies and activities, a High Def participant t-shirt, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.

What if I have a game or other commitment during High Def?

It’s not a problem. You can leave and return later, but make sure to let us know through our time away form inside the Parent Packet.

If I can only attend part of High Def, can I get a discount?

No, High Def is a flat-fee event. Most of the registration fee goes to elements such as set, speakers, band, t-shirts and materials that are not reduced by your absence.

Can my registration be cancelled or transferred?

Unfortunately, no. All PTSM events are non-refundable, but can be transferred up until January 22.

Can I serve at High Def?

Yes! We need help to make High Def happen! High Def is a ministry of Preston Trail that is only possible through the service of over 100 serving team members. We have a place for you on the High Def team!

Food Allergies and Restrictions

You will have an opportunity to tell us about food allergies and dietary restrictions when you register. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all food issues, so you may need to provide your own food.

What should I bring to High Def?

You will receive the Parent Packet 10 days before the event (January 23, 2024), but here is some information to get you started.
  • Weather-appropriate clothes, shoes, phone chargers, pillows, sleeping bags/blankets/towels, small bag for personal items at church and bathroom essentials for the entire weekend.
  • Beverages and snacks to share with your group--a two-liter bottle of soda and cookies or chips are perfect.
  • Spending money for the High Def store.

When will I find out my student's group and host home assignment?

Assignments will be emailed out to the registration contact one week before the event.

HOST HOMES

What are host homes?

During High Def Student Weekend, trusted members of the Preston Trail family graciously open their homes to host a small group of high school or middle school students. We run background checks on all adults present in a host home to ensure the safety of each student.

Pet Allergies

Host Homes often have pets. The best way to avoid allergens is to host your small group at your home. If you tell us about a pet allergy on your registration, we will do our best to place you in a host home without pets, but it may limit our ability to accommodate friend and group requests. Our ability to accommodate pet allergies is limited to the families who are hosting.
