High Def is a short-term serving role that has a big impact!
There are many opportunities to serve before and during High Def Weekend. As a High Def volunteer, you have access to large-group worship sessions and the zany fun that builds memories and relationships. High Def will create common ground for you and your teen, even if you don’t see each other during the event.
WAYS TO SERVE:
These leaders are on the front lines with students all weekend and get to make the most significant impact! Two small group leaders will be paired together and assigned a group of 10-12 students. They will spend the entire weekend with them building relationships, modeling Christ, guiding them and leading spiritual group discussions
The commitment of a small group leader is for the entire weekend. They will start Friday at 5:30 p.m., spend the night with the students in their assigned host home both Friday and Saturday night, and conclude Sunday morning at the church.
SGLs must love Jesus & love students, be willing to dress up in their Tribe color, and commit to their students for the entire weekend.
Our High Def Hosts open their homes to an assigned small group (approximately ten students and two leaders) to spend Friday and Saturday nights. Hosts should be present when the group is at their home. Groups are expected to be in host homes at the following times: Friday from 5:30-7 p.m. & 11:30 p.m. to Saturday at 9 a.m. (overnight), and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to Sunday at 8:30 a.m. (overnight). Hosts are responsible for providing breakfast to their group on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Help transport students between the church and host homes in your vehicle. Every available seatbelt in the car will be filled. Drivers must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check. We assign drivers to any small group unless a preferred group is requested. There are five drive times: Friday at 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., Saturday at 9 a.m., 7:30 p.m., and Sunday 8:30 a.m. We prefer that drivers are available for all five drive shifts.
We provide lunch and dinner to our students and leaders on Saturday. This role would help set up, serve meals and clean up. Time slots are 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m. You can serve at both, or just one is fine too.
Help with setup, facilitating games, and tear down. Ensure students have fun and stay safe during rec activities. Games could include inflatable obstacle courses, crab soccer, 9 square, etc. Commitment is Saturday, 12 p.m.-4 p.m.
We could not pull off High Def without our amazing behind-the-scenes team! Throughout the months and weeks leading up to High Def, we have opportunities to help with event prep. Event prep includes tasks such as putting together swag & leader bags, sorting store merchandise, décor, etc.
Assists drivers in the parking lot with student drop off, greet students as they come into the church, and assist with luggage drop off and parent pick up. Time slots are Friday 6:30-7:30 p.m., Saturday 8:30-9:30 a.m., and Sunday 8:15-9:15 a.m. You do not need to be available for all slots. You can serve as many as you are able.
We have several videographers and photographers that roam around the event capturing candid, documentary-style photos or video footage of students and leaders during the whole event. The photographers will need to edit their pictures in the High Def creative suite and export them to PTSM platforms to be used by the social media team. We also need video editors to cut together some fun reels and highlight reels using Adobe Creative Suite. They will collect content from photographers and videographers to create unique service and social media materials. These roles are asked to be available for the entire event (Fri-Sun) but can be flexible if necessary.
- Stagehands: Help move stage pieces on and off the stage during sessions as a stagehand! This role is only needed three times during the weekend, but we request they be available for a rehearsal before High Def.
- Green Room Hosts: If you're interested in hospitality, try serving as a green room host! This role helps coordinate and set out meals/snacks for the massive production/worship/creative team High Def has. This role is only needed three times during the weekend but does require mild driving.
- Merch team: Helps with student/volunteer merchandise transactions by selling fun clothes & accessories. We are looking for smiling faces to greet students as they pick out pieces to bring home. As the High Def Store is not open during the entirety of the event, we will break this position into shifts, but you can serve as many shifts as you'd like! There are typically about five shifts available throughout the weekend, with one shift on Friday night, three on Saturday, and one on Sunday morning. Time Commitment = 2+ hours per shift.
Do you have a passion for Instagram? Want to help capture some of the awesomeness for parents at home and for students to share later? Try the Social Media team! In this role, you will capture stories, reels, and feed posts for the PTSM and Preston Trail Instagram accounts. This role is asked to be available for the entire event (Fri-Sun) but can be flexible if necessary.
