What is Rooted?
Rooted is a pathway to strengthen your connection with God, the church and your purpose. Rooted will help you understand the rhythms of following Jesus whether you have been following him for decades or question whether he is even real. It is a ten-week program that includes five days of reading and reflection each week. There are three additional experiences that happen throughout the ten weeks as well:
- A Prayer Experience around week three held in someone's home
- A Serve Experience around weeks six and seven at one of our Community Partners.
- At the completion of Rooted, all current Rooted groups come together for a fun celebration that includes worship, baptisms and a message from one of our senior pastors.
When does the next Rooted semester start?
Rooted groups launch three times throughout the year: January, May and September. Registration opens one month before each launch date. If we are currently in the middle of a Rooted semester, then we recommend you join the Priority Access List so you can receive the link to register before it goes live on the website.
What if I don’t go to church here…can I still sign up for Rooted?
Absolutely. Rooted is for everyone!
How will I register, and what is the cost?
Registration is easy! Once registration is open for the upcoming session, just click on the link and select which day and time you want and follow the steps to register. The cost is $25 per person to go through the course. The cost covers your workbook and other materials as well as a Rooted t-shirt.
Is there childcare?
Yes, limited childcare is available on a first come, first served basis for $45 per child with a max of $135 per family. You can register for childcare at the same time you register for Rooted. (If you prefer to use your own sitter, we also offer kid care reimbursement to help offset the cost. You can find more information here.)
What are the two off-site experiences? Is childcare provided for those?
Each group will have a Prayer Experience and a Serve Experience outside of regular group time. No on-site kid care is provided for these experiences.
Where will my Rooted group meet?
You will meet on-site at our Frisco campus. Groups for our Online campus will meet virtually.
What if I can’t make all ten weeks?
We understand that Rooted is a large time commitment, but we believe it is worth it to invest in the entire process. If you know you are going to miss more than two meetings, we ask that you wait until the next session of Rooted.
How will the Rooted groups be chosen?
Our Rooted team will prayerfully place participants into groups of no more than 12 people. We consider age, marital status, life stage, and area of town when forming groups, but ultimately, it depends upon the demographic of those who register. While we do our best to honor requests, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all friend or facilitator requests.
Do we have to go through the Rooted experience?
You are not required to participate in the Rooted experience. However, we believe Rooted is a catalyst for life change and growth in your relationship with God no matter where you are in your journey with him. Our hope is that everyone will want to make the decision to participate. Rooted is, however, a prerequisite for leadership at Preston Trail and a step we desire everyone to take prior to joining an ongoing small group. We recommend you pray about when the time might be right for you. There is no rush. Rooted is here to stay.
What is the difference between Rooted and small groups?
Rooted is the on-ramp to small groups at Preston Trail. Our desire is that your Rooted group will transition into a small group at the end of the ten weeks. We strongly encourage everyone to go through Rooted before joining an open small group.
Are there scholarships available?
We believe that Rooted is a life-changing experience, and we want everyone to participate! We understand that the Rooted registration fee or childcare costs may be a burden for some, so we do have a limited number of scholarships available. Can I facilitate a Rooted group?
Rooted facilitators get a front row seat to something remarkable–God transforming lives. Rooted facilitators must have graduated from Rooted and agree to our leadership commitment. If you would like more information on how to become a Rooted facilitator please reach out to: rooted@prestontrail.org
