FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is High Def?

February 21-22, 2020.

Who can attend High Def?

High Def is designed for students in grades 6-12. Students will be integrated for large group sessions, but will be grouped by age and gender in small groups and host homes. All attendees must register.

What does High Def cost?

Prior to January 1: $90

January 1- February 2: $120

Registration closes February 2, 2020, or when all spots are filled.

What is included with High Def Registration?

Registration includes recreation supplies and activities, a High Def participant T-shirt, and meals on Saturday.

What should I bring to High Def?

  • Weather-appropriate clothes, shoes, phone chargers, pillows, sleeping bags/blankets/towels, small bag for personal items at church, and bathroom essentials for the entire weekend.
  • Beverages and snacks to share with your group. A two-liter bottle of soda and cookies or chips are perfect.
  • Spending money for the High Def Store.

Are lodging accommodations available for High Def attendees?

High Def is an overnight event. Students will spend Friday night at host homes with their small group.

What are host homes?

During High Def Weekend, trusted members of the Preston Trail family graciously open their homes to host a small group of high school or middle school students. We run background checks on all adults present in a host home to ensure student safety.

How are High Def small groups formed?

Students are grouped based on their friend requests from registration, grade level, service attended and gender.

Can we request a group or small group leader?

Yes. When you register your teen for High Def, you will have the opportunity to request a certain small group leader and friend(s) to be included in your student’s group. We do our best to accommodate each request, but the best way to ensure your student is grouped with friends is to serve as a host home and host his/her small group. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate last-minute requests made after registration closes, so make sure to include any friend, group or leader requests in your registration.

When will I find out what group I’m placed in?

Due to logistics of forming groups, we'll email out group assignments and your Host Home address a few days before the event.

What do I do about spirit wear?

We encourage students to bring as much spirit wear of their assigned color as possible for competition and camaraderie. The more wacky and wild, the better!

Color Groups:
6th grade - Blue
7th grade - Green
8th grade - Yellow
9th grade - Orange
10th grade - Pink
11 & 12th grade - Red
McKinney Campus - Purple

What if I have a game or other commitment during High Def?

It’s not a problem. Your parents will need to complete a “Time Away” form that lets us know when you will leave and return.

If I can only attend part of High Def, can I get a discount?

No. High Def is flat fee event. Most registration fees go to elements such as set, speakers, band, t-shirts and materials that are not reduced by your absence.

Can my registration be cancelled or transferred?

If you find that you cannot attend High Def, you can request a refund up to January 15. After that we cannot give refunds. Tickets are non-transferrable due to host home assignments. If you have any questions concerning cancellations, please email students@prestontrail.org.

    Will childcare be available?

No. Families are extremely important to us, but we are unable to accommodate children at the conference.

Can I serve at High Def?

Yes! High Def is a ministry of Preston Trail. It’s only possible through the service of over 100 serving team members. We have a place for you on the High Def team!

    Register to Serve

    Food Allergies and Restrictions

You will have an opportunity to tell us about food allergies and dietary restrictions when you register. We cannot guarantee that your host will be able to accommodate all food issues, so you may need to provide your own food.

    Pet Allergies

Host Homes often have pets. If you tell us about a pet allergy on your registration, we will do our best to place you in a host home without pets, but it may limit our ability to accommodate friend and group requests. Our ability to accommodate pet allergies is limited to the families who are hosting. The best way to ensure your allergies are accommodated is to host your small group at your home.
