Impact Student Mentoring
Weekly, September 17 - May 31
Through Preston Trail's student mentoring program, we invite you to become a mentor to an at-risk elementary-aged child at one of our partner schools, Christie Elementary (Frisco) or Webb Elementary (McKinney). Mentoring builds self-esteem, improves academic performance and can have a positive effect in the development of a child. Children who are mentored show an increased belief in their abilities to succeed in school and feel less anxiety related to peer pressure.
- You will be paired with an elementary (K-5) student of your grade preference.
- Mentors spend 30 minutes each week reading, sharing a virtue each month and providing games and fun activities to do together.
- Mentors visit their students during set times based on your preference and the student's availability.
- All mentors must submit an application, attend a training session and complete a background check before being matched with a student.
