Lead Small (v.) the act of doing for a few what you wish you could do for many.
How cool is it that our church is growing?! And how cool is it that we have so many new families attending every Sunday, even during the summer?! It’s stinking cool!
Here’s another cool thing: we are making a significant difference in our community and our world, by the way we reach out to the poor, the under-resourced and the homeless. Bue we are also making a significant difference right here in our own backyard… every Sunday!
There is a dilemma, though. How crazy would it be for us to feed the neighbor’s kids and yet not feed our own children? That would be crazy with a capital C. In Galatians 6:10 it says, “…as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” We are called to use our gifts and resources to do good at home as well as afar.
The church faces a BIG challenge today as we watch kids become apathetic and even walk away from their faith altogether as early as 4th and 5th grade. Is this because they are listening to peers and teachers who have different philosophies? Perhaps--but more than that, to some degree their faith is unchallenged.
So, what’s the solution? This is where you come in. Our goal is to raise kids with a stronger faith… with what we call authentic faith. How do we do that at Preston Trail? I’m glad you asked! We do it in the same way we do it with adults; through groups and corporate worship.
Every week, we lead small groups of 8-10 kids in all three areas of Family Ministry: Early Childhood, Elementary and Students. With the coming of fall we are in need of at least 80 people who are willing to be part of a team that will challenge kids in their faith journey.
We know that the people of Preston Trail are passionate about helping others and making a difference. Here is a way to multiply your efforts as we reach out: help to build an army of young people who will be the difference-makers in less than ten years!
